Message from the Founder / CEO

I believe that real estate is the best career and business vehicle to be in. Real estate offers huge opportunities for growth, financial success, long lasting relationships and personal fulfillment. In the world of real estate, the possibilities are endless. There is no cap. There is no ceiling. But it’s not easy.

I can speak from my experience. I decided to get my license in 2013. The first 6 months were rough. Like most new agents I was trying to jump-start my business, get in front of a few buyers or sellers and close some deals so I can cover my monthly expenses. The pressure was on.

I had 3 kids under age 5 with the daycare bill of $2,100, mortgage $2,000 and two car payments of $1,000. So $5K going out each month not including food etc…

At the same time I received awful news that my dad was diagnosed with colon cancer. Stressing about him, not getting any traction in the business, bills piling up and no money coming in, I started having my own GI symptoms. I was diagnosed with UC (Ulcerative Colitis).

For almost two years, there were many days when I had little or no energy, constant urges going to the bathroom and dealing with emotional breakdowns. Remembering driving to my listing appointments and thinking more about #2 than the actual listing was so frustrating. There were days when I seriously considered getting a more stable job. But I knew in my heart that if I do that any momentum that I’ve built would vanish. So I pushed through pain, self doubt, uncertainty and negative thoughts. I channeled all my energy I had into getting my real estate business going.

During the first 6 months, I called 1000s of expired/canceled listings and was rejected most of the time. Set 30+ listing appointments. Struck out on all of them BUT one.

Finally, I got my first listing. It was only $100K listing & $2.5K commission, BUT it felt like it was $1 Mil listing and $25K commission. More importantly it was a WIN. My first 6 months I closed NONE, but the rest of the year I closed 16. My second year I doubled by closings to 35 deals, 75 deals in my 3rd year and netted half a million dollars.

I want to leave you with this..

A day will come when the one thing you will wish for above anything else is the opportunity to go back and do it differently.

You will be looking in the mirror and…

you will be craving, with every fiber of your soul, for the impossible chance to go back & to change things.

But, it will be too late.

We only have one life. And today could be our last day.

Take chances. Be BOLD. Don’t settle. Push through adversity.

David was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated college in Colorado and lived in Denver 11 years prior to moving to Arizona in 2001. David has two wonderful kids, and a spoiled Beagle. During his career, David has worked as a Project Manager for a home builder and has owned four successful businesses. In addition, he has worked as an Assistant Vice President for Merrill Lynch, and served as Executive Director for a new-concept medical practice. He has also served as a Director of an Arizona luxury home builder, and the Exclusive Broker for a high-end luxury home builder in Paradise Valley and the Arcadia areas.

As founder and president of Roney & Associates Realty, David continued to nourish his entrepreneurial spirit, and excelled in providing superior service with the greatest attention to detail. David is proud that his small firm received a Top 10 Ranking by Arizona Business Magazine, three years running, prior to his company being acquired by Coldwell Banker in 2011. In 2014, David joined forces with Fathom Realty. He became the Branch Manager of the Scottsdale office, and a District Director. In spring of 2015, David became the Designated/State Broker for the company in the state of Arizona. In 2020 he moved to serving clients and agents as the Designated Broker of Best Homes Real Estate, a new and innovative real estate company based in Arizona. David has a variety of professional designations, is regularly seeking additional educational opportunities, and has consistently been a multi-million dollar producer. His experience in home-building and construction has proved invaluable to his clients, as have his negotiating and business experience.

When not serving his clients, David spends time with his family. He also donates considerable time to a variety of charities, charitable boards, and his church.

My commitment is to ensure Best Homes provides the best service to ensure our agents have the best experience. My mission is to ensure all the best agents have all the tools they need, know how to use them, and assist in helping provide direction that was given to me many years ago. Outside of work I love spending time at home with my husband of 20+ years, my daughter, our zoo of pets, friends, family, and having fun with my many home & personal projects!

Hi my name is Selene Hernandez, I have been with Best Homes Real Estate since the beginning of 2024. Prior to this, I spent six years as a front-end developer at a marketing agency, where I specialized in creating websites for a diverse range of clients, from gamers to therapists. Here with Best Homes I have had the privilege to create my first brokerage website. I have also worked as a Project Manager and Brand Ambassador for a few clients. I feel like a balance of creativity mixed with daily interactivity is where I thrive.

In my leisure time, I cherish moments with my family, boyfriend, and pet dogs. I also enjoy supporting my younger sister as a dance mom. A couple of fun facts about me: I’m an avid listener of true crime podcasts, and I possess the unique ability to take a nap on demand.
